Groups for Organisation and Safety

Since starting teaching, I've come to realise the importance of organisation.
Good organisation can save time, reduce the occurence of lost work and allow you as the teacher to share the responsibility of safety and care of possessions with the students.
With my bird groups I am able to allocate safety managers who take responsibility for their group's safety by supervising tasks and checking appropriate attire.
I like the bird theme as it's related to New Zealand Aotearoa and is more fun than numbers. I also think that it develops a sense of identity and has visual prompts.
I've also proposed equipment managers so that not everyone is gathering stuff from the cupboards and that we can take stock of everything.
Finally, I've allocated each bird group a table so that students are evenly spaced around the class and can take pride in designated space.
