Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community

Practice

Ensuring that I follow school procedures and processes such as recording attendance, carrying out duties and entering information on the school database when necessary. Attending meetings to participate in discussions around my subject area and within my pastoral care role.

Supporting the Hospitality team cater for in school events.

Supporting students and members of the community during the 2022 floods. This included organising linen and preparing beds at the local refuge centres, taking on supervising shifts at the community creche,  and visiting students experiencing displacement.

As the Year Adviser for the 2025 graduates, I played a major role in organising and hosting the Farewell Assembly and the Graduation Ball. This required ongoing communication with parents and consultation with students. I also organised hub activities for the final week of school.

Examples

7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities

Participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden knowledge and improve practice.

In 2021 and 2022 I contributed to the annual school production, by creating costume pieces and props for some of the main characters.

During this process, I built relationships with both the students and staff involved. This also broadened my knowledge and understanding of how a school show is prepared and managed, and made me think about student involvement in the future.
