Teaching
Teach and respond to learners in a knowledgeable and adaptive way to progress their learning at an appropriate depth and pace.
Practice
Traffic light tracking . Providing opportunities for cultural heritage and identity to be embedded . In-class workshops based on student voice . Following school protocols around assessment . Supporting hublings in analysing assessment data and building goals . Establishing lesson routines and implementing strategies to help create a safe environment . Provide opportunities for education out of the classroom.
Examples
'Provide opportunities and support for learners to engage with, practise and apply learning to different contexts and make connections with prior learning.

SUN, SEA &
Sustainability
In this project, we investigated how human activity has impacted on our waterways, coastal environments and sea life.
We worked with Sustainable Coastlines who specifically focus on the kaitiakitanga of our moana, and find ways to make a difference, such as: clean beaches, the implementation of prevention schemes and education.

Sustainable Coastlines
BEACH CLEAN
During our inquiry phase, we learned from a wide range of experiences to strengthen our knowledge and build a strong connection with this issue.
Senior Leadership Team observation by Sally
'Use an increasing repertoire of teaching strategies, approaches, learning activities, technologies and assessment for learning strategies and modify these in response to the needs of individuals and groups of learners.'
FISHY
A foundation module with the integration of Physical Education and Technology.

In Physical Education, the learning objective was to build social responsibility through teamwork. In Technology students carried out the design process with a focus on testing and refining.

The context of the module was to allow learning to happen through survival style making; by collaborating to make fishing equipment out of found resources that they won each week through team building challenges.

Tawhirimatea
A Technology foundation SPIN focusing on the testing and development of a product.
In Tawhirimatea, students created kites inspired by a selection of examples from different cultures.

The learning objective was to test and develop a kite. Students understood that this was an ongoing process and each time they went through the feedback loop, their design should improve.

Two things I wanted to focus on in this SPIN, was to reduce paperwork and promote practical work. I also wanted to encourage trial and error and create a space where it was OK to fail.
