At HPSS I've been involved with BIG PROJECTS, supporting students with the school show Alice in Wonderland. My role was to assist with costume and set design. During the show, I helped out with repairing costumes and props, and also face paint.

AGGS: Year 12 & 13 DVC
After seeing Nat Cheshire at Semi-Permanent and also
at an educational talk around design, I decided to get
in touch and ask if we were able to make a school visit
to his studio. I had found his talk very inspiring and
was hoping that his philosophy around determination
would motivate our senior students.
He was very welcoming towards us and engaging as he talked about his journey towards becoming an architect. He was also open to questions and keen on getting to know us as a collective.
I noticed that the students were also mesmerised by the workspace and the studio's atmosphere. I realised that this setting was far removed from the dark maths room where their class is normally held.
I find that out of class experiences are a great way at stimulatng the students and allow them to make connections between what they are learning and real world.

Over this academy year I have attended a number of events that has allowed a teacher/caregiver dialogue to take place.
At AGGs I attended a 'meet the teacher' evening at the start of the year, a mid year and end of year parent/teacher evening.
Here as HPSS, we are encouraged to communicate regularly with whanau so that we can support our students' learning journey together.
We also have an opportunity to meet the family of students in a community evening. As I am joining Taheretiktiki community, I'll be attending their designated evening and presenting this poster, which has shown my HPSS experience so far.
